We variously struggled along, finding ways to help, filling up spare time and space in our homes and minds with growing menageries, and making connections with other rescuers and local shelters. After several years of ad hoc fund raising, volunteering at the local dog shelter (“azil”) and pestering all our patient friends and family for help, we decided in 2015 to formalise our work into an NGO and to try and work towards more sustainable solutions. Thus Friends of Dogs/Prijatelji Pasa was born. We remain a very small group of volunteers, commited to helping to alleviate suffering where we can, and to lobbying for change. All our funds go directly towards helping animals or specific projects. We have no paid staff and share donated office space when needed.
